Editorial Standards

Sourcing, accuracy, and honest limits.

MedCalcTools is a calculator reference, so our standards are about getting the math and the sources right, and being honest about what the site is not.

Sourcing

Each calculator is built on a named, published equation. We cite the publishing body or original paper and link to it, for example NIDDK and the American Diabetes Association for A1C, and the original Cockcroft and Gault paper and the National Kidney Foundation for creatinine clearance.

Accuracy

We show the exact formula on the page and work the calculation in the browser so you can check it against the source. Worked examples are included where they help.

Honesty about credentials

We do not claim that this content is reviewed by a physician, and we do not invent medical reviewers or credentials. Our content is written by Naomi Foster, a health writer with Encore Editorial, and is based on published clinical sources rather than personal medical opinion.

Updates

Every calculator and article carries a visible last-updated date. If a source equation or guideline changes, we update the page and the date.
